WHAT WE DO
Joint Replacement
Joint Replacement technically called as arthroplasty is a procedure where dysfunctional or painful joint which is irreparable and irreversible, is surgically replaced with some artificial joint. These joints are made up of different metal, alloys and polyethylenes etc. This procedure converts a painful and fixed joint into a painless mobile joint. Commonly Hip and Knee replacement are popular in India and even in abroad. But Shoulder, Ankle, Elbow and Wrist are also increasing in number with the tremendously developing medical science. Even some centres are practicing finger joint replacements now a days.
Hip Replacement
Hip replacement is the oldest arthroplasty ever done in the history and still the most common replacement surgery world-wide. The various types of prosthesis available in India range from 20 thousand to 2 lakhs for a simple hip. It has a variety of choices, metal on poly, ceramic on poly, ceramic on ceramic, Single or Dual mobility cup, cemented, uncemented etc. Commonly this surgery helps in various arthritis including osteoarthritis, trauma, Avascular Necrosis of femoral head, Ankylosing Spondylitis and other diseases.
Knee Replacement
Knee replacement is fastest growing arthroplasty surgery in India. It is cemented prosthesis with femoral cup and tibial compoments. Popular implants are cruciate retaining or posterior stabilized. In more complicated cases semiconstraints, constraints, stems and Hinge system are the options. After capping of prices by Govt. of India, this prosthesis comes at a cheaper price less than 60000 approximately for simple implants. Hospital stay in otherwise fit patient is about 5 days and full recovery may take 3-6 weeks
Knee Arthroscopy
Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery where the knee joint is visualized and procedures are performed through tiny incisions. Unlike traditional open surgery no large incisions are made and the instruments like camera and shaver are introduced through the small keyholes of sizes approximately 5mm. Benefits of this surgery are so many...Incision and subsequent blood loss is negligible, Hospital stay is minimum, pain is less and post operative rehabilitation is easier. Knee arthroscopic surgeries has revolutionized a variety of knee problems, especially sports injuries. Ligaments tear like Anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments (ACL and PCL), Meniscal injury etc can be dealt with great precision. There are many surgeries that need arthroscopic assistance for better outcomes like collateral ligaments (LCL and MCL), recurrent dislocation of patella(MPFL reconstruction) and many periarticular fractures.
Elbow Replacement
Elbow Replacement is done in cases without any alternative as it's life span is less than that of knee and hip as well as weight lifting is compromised.
Shoulder Replacement
Shoulder replacement is increasing in number with development of medical science. In hemiarthroplasty, humeral head is replaced while in total shoulder arthroplasty humeral head as well as glenoid cavity is replaced. Another form of shoulder replacement is Reverse shoulder replacement where the ball and socket of shoulder prosthesis is reversed. It is required in cases requiring replacement with rotator cuff damage
